Bore Tech’s innovative Proof-Positive Rifle Patch Jags eliminate the frustrating false indication of copper fouling that occurs with traditional brass jags when using copper-removing cleaners.
Manufactured from a proprietary alloy with a specialised treatment process, these jags are 100% brass free and 100% barrel safe. The material is as soft as brass, yet offers exceptional tensile strength to prevent bending or snapping under the pressure of tight patches.
▶ Why Switch from Brass?
Traditional brass jags contain over 60% copper. When used with copper-removing solvents, they produce a blue staining on patches — even when no copper fouling is present in the bore.
By eliminating brass components, Proof-Positive jags allow shooters to accurately determine when a barrel is truly copper free, reducing wasted patches, chemicals, and cleaning time.
▶ Precision Cleaning Performance
Featuring a dual set of four contact rings, these jags are precision machined to exact tolerances to deliver consistent, concentric pressure along the barrel surface.
The first ring is rounded to centre the jag in the chamber and minimise risk of damage. The following three squared rings securely grip the patch for effective cleaning.
The relief space between ring sets acts as an additional solvent reservoir, holding clean solvent and releasing it before the second set of rings passes through the bore.
Each jag is calibre-specific in length, preventing patches from bunching or jamming on the cleaning rod.
▶ Barrel Protection Features
A reverse taper at the rear of the jag creates a smooth, edge-free transition between the jag and cleaning rod when used with Proof-Positive Bore Stix rods.
This design helps centre the jag and lifts the rod away from the barrel when withdrawing, significantly reducing the risk of crown damage.
Finally, the answer to the question: “Is my barrel clean?”
✔ Yes — it’s PROOF-POSITIVE clean.

Bore Tech Information
Proof Positive Benefits?
Bore Tech’s Proof-Positive feature is a major innovation in firearm cleaning, designed to eliminate false positive indications of copper fouling. Traditional cleaning jags and loops are typically made from brass, which contains copper. When using ammonia-based copper solvents, these brass components can react chemically, producing a blue or green color in the solvent. This color change often misleads shooters into believing there is still copper fouling in the bore when, in reality, the reaction is coming from the jag itself. Bore Tech’s Proof-Positive jags and loops are made from a proprietary, brass-free alloy that eliminates this problem. This means any color change in the solvent is a true indication of copper fouling in the bore, allowing for more accurate and reliable cleaning.
The Proof-Positive feature is particularly beneficial for shooters who demand precise barrel maintenance, such as competitive marksmen, hunters, and gunsmiths. By removing the interference caused by brass jags, Bore Tech ensures that users don’t waste time and solvent chasing false copper indications. Additionally, Proof-Positive jags and loops are precision-machined for a perfect patch fit, ensuring thorough bore contact and more effective cleaning. This leads to less solvent waste, reduced cleaning time, and a properly maintained barrel, which ultimately enhances firearm accuracy and longevity. For anyone serious about firearm care, Proof-Positive technology is a game-changer, providing a smarter and more efficient cleaning process.
Which Rod Size
When choosing a Bore Tech cleaning rod for your rifle, you need to consider the barrel length and action type to ensure you get the right rod length. A good rule of thumb is to select a rod that is at least 6-8 inches longer than your rifle's barrel to accommodate the action and allow for full stroke cleaning. For bolt-action rifles, measure from the chamber to the muzzle and add extra length for comfortable use. For AR-style rifles, you may need an even longer rod due to the upper receiver's design. Bore Tech rods typically come in lengths ranging from 36 inches to 50 inches, so selecting the right one depends on your rifle’s specifications.
